As Proposed:

  • It is a 501(c)(3) foundation established by NAR for the benefit of a defined class of persons who have experienced devastating personal events.   It must be approved by the IRS.
  • Eligibility requires two years continuous membership in NAR, whether or not a current member.  It includes the member, the member’s immediate family and staff.
  • Funding is by an initial sum payable by NAR over three years and by contributions, donations, memorials and honorariums.  The intent is to expend earnings and not principal.
  • It is administered by a Board of Directors subject to confidentiality because of the sensitive nature of personal issues and situations.  NAR staff supports in collection, verification and distribution of documents and conveying decisions.  NAR staff collects funds and accounts for them.
